So yes, my Puppet Master pick isn't going to wow anyone with great comic action, hell, it may not wow anyone period, haha, and yes, it is part two of a two part story, but only having one issue to promote, I chose to give you guys the ending of the arc, instead of the beginning. There is a lot of "re-cap of past events" in this issue, but man did I love it back in the day.
I actually bought this issue, my first Cap in some time, on my way home from school one day. I walked into Suburban News (a magazine, comic and newspaper shop) saw both issues of this Cap story, but only had enough pocket change to buy one, so I chose the one with the more energetic cover, walked back home, read the first two pages of this, stopped, asked my mom for a couple quarters and then walked my ass back to the store to grab that other issue as I was so intrigued. Now I say "I" was intrigued because I am a huge fan of WWII (both comic stories based on it and the actual history) as well as Vampire stuff, but I understand that you guys may not be...
;D
But that is the idea of this puppet master thing, yeah, forcing people to read books they may not want to?
No? Is it not? Oh...
;D ;D
Also, continuing my long windedness (shocking) I am assuming (big mistake? ;D ) that I will be able to read the last two issues from this past week's list (The Seasons 3 and 4) but if I don't, I will just add them back to this list. Along with any other thing that catches my eye
;)
But for now, I am looking like this:

Captain America 254 - Love the Byrne art on Captain America! I remember buying this off the rack ages ago. Still holds up and some fun nostalgia with Union Jack and Spitfire. Great issue!
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #15 - Decent issue. Fun team up!
ULTIMATE WOLVERINE #3 - one of those rare times Perry and I are on opposites sides of a comic. I really liked this issue and the series in general. Fun finally seeing the X-Men showing up.
DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL #1 - BIG thumbs up! I like this a lot. Interesting future story and set for a lot of excitement.
X-MEN #14 - very weird start to what will likely be a very weird arc!

ABSOLUTE GREEN LANTERN #3 - I liked this issue. Some clues to the mystery start to appear.
ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #8 - Cool issue. I'm loving this version of the Omega Men.
ABSOLUTE BATMAN #9 - Very cool issue! I like the way all of our "traditional" characters are being used in this world. So much fun!

Public Domain Vol 1 (Collects issues 1-5) - Really good book! It's a story about a creator who got nothing from his creation which took off and made billions for the comic company. Really good stuff from Zdarsky.
JSA #8 - I really wish they'd pick a better artist for this book. Story wasn't bad but it's been dragging on way too long.
JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE ATOM PROJECT #6 (OF 6) - Not a bad story with a decent ending.
Sigil 1 - And we're off to an interesting start. Art is a bit confusing as the male characters look almost the same. I didn't realize there were two different characters right away. But I'm interested in the story so we'll see how this goes.
Basically finished my DC STUFF with me seeing SUPERMAN TODAY!!!
Batman & Robin 22 -again, can't say enough how I love this supernatural detective hunt into the past. PKJ is great on this title
Batman & Robin Jason Todd 1 - More exploratory piece, I'm not as taken by the effort; the first issue feels so much seen this, been there already
ACTION COMICS 1087 - artist I don't know, but I found it...worked in its looseness. I'd call it a wholesome kind of story, but I'm rather a sucker for those when done with real heart and honesty. I liked it
GLC 5 -so many odd art choices to give the fill in status. Definitely done by a 90s artist brought forward with a time machine for the SC parts LOL . Certainly are parts to continue to f/u with
Trinity 1 - this is a book to scan read. Like, i don't need to follow all the nonesen, but there are pieces where it's cool to see how Trinity develops, that I like, and the main 'plot' part interests me most
Aquaman 6 -also a scan read. But what an ending LOL
Absolute Batman 9 - oh this is nuts! And great!
OH yeah, Legion 313 -the background plot with Shrinking Violet was more interesting and waaaay less talk bubbles!! and now the titles diverge after this!

Forgot to mention I did try this again, the latest issue or the one prior I can not recall, but as much as I wanted to, I could not get into the art. Not sure if I just had the bad luck of trying a bad fill-in issue or not, but I had to walk away from that issue's look.
Man, No way I am getting done this week. I hope to at least get to Resurrection Man, but we'll see

Cap - more of a recap issue than anything, but man I remember back in the day, when I first read this, loving what Cap did to Baron Blood. I was shocked. Still fun today, especially as a short two part arc
Scion - Much better start for me than that Sigil beginning. I do remember enjoying this, so I certainly went back and read these issues during my CrossGen day (I think the art in those early Sigil issues kept me away from going back and reading them, but this art and story interested me so much that I read most all of this title)
Hellblazer - Oh nice, another vampire arc starting? Yes, please!
Legion - A good small story issue. somewhat odd as an issue before the title split. Not saying it was a bad thing, just odd. No story crossover with the "new" title, ya know? I am sure the Titans did the same as well. Of course now typing that out, I think I understand why... you don't want to piss off the readers not near an LCS that the "next part of the story continues in a book you may not have access to". :D
Jason Todd - Has the same feel as the recent issues of Batman and Robin: Year One, but I like the water color art so I am here for the next two issues. As it is only a 3 issues series, it's not much of a commitment, fair enough ;D
GLCorps - I 100% understand why people are having fun with this, I do, but honestly, I haven't been enjoying any of the GL books right now and I think I'm done with the lot. Various reasons for that, I am sure (though I don't know them). Yeah, no true idea why. With this book... it has an exciting story and some damn cool art, but I am just not enjoying it. I close each issue as cold as I was prior to opening it. Just a nothing feeling. Very odd not to not feel a thing when you are reading a book (or books) that are based on emotion :o
Dark Patterns - Another gruesome story... love it. And Sherman is just killing it right now.
Absolute Bats - Whoah boy, now THAT is a threat!! Love Bane here.
Daredevil - Man, loved seeing how McNiven's art change on this book. Much more energetic, ragged, loose. Story is enjoyable as well. Another three issue mini. Loving those!!

TRINITY: DAUGHTER OF WONDER WOMAN #1 (OF 6) - This isn't something I would expect to like but surprisingly I did. It's a bit juvenile but maybe that's what sucked me in. I'm in.
RESURRECTION MAN: QUANTUM KARMA #3 (OF 6) - I'm out. I couldn't make it all the way through this issue without becoming incredibly bored.
Sigil 2 - Getting better. I'm starting to get to know the characters and I like what happened to Roiya. It's interesting and I wonder how it'll play out.
And....
CAPTAIN AMERICA 254!! Oh, I now the infamous panel, but it was so cool to see the full issue! Early/Prime John Byrne art, Roger Stern writing, great treat!
Oops, from MARVEL last week
Uncanny X-men 12 -a Gambit back story. I really kinda dug it a lot, actually!
This week:...
X-men 14 -okay, I guess. I just don't know what X-men in Alaska is really all about. Title feels meandering....and I ...I think I"m not picking it up next issue....
Immortal Thor 22 -okay, just get to the point of Death of Thor already with 25. And lets see some great art on that issue!
Daredevil Cold Day in Hell 1 - Interesting....I mean, all future stories of 'The Dark Knight Returns' Tend to be interesting, and I'm interested in this!!
Deadpool 13 -done with the crossover, Wade is back to hunting the guy who actually killed him with a Murasawa blade. Awesome crossover with an Arrakki that was really funny. Enjoyable issue!!
And....
Perry, I think you undersold it.
BATMAN DARK PATTERNS 7 may well have been the best of the week. What great storytelling and visuals! Love the gang's even earlier origins mentioned here!!!
Finally got around to Mr. Terrific #1. I like the story, I like the writing, but the art is that kind of rough....Jock looking art. I think I'll be okay with it.

Resurrection Man - Hmmm, I understand what Jeff means by slow, there is a lull, but it advances the story enough that I enjoyed it. And I say that as a pretty big hater of Vandal Savage, but I liked how Shelley is Savage's brother and how that ties into his powers, with the whole Cain/Abel simile
Quote from: Jeff on Jul 09, 2025, 03:09 AMCaptain America 254 - Love the Byrne art on Captain America! I remember buying this off the rack ages ago. Still holds up and some fun nostalgia with Union Jack and Spitfire. Great issue!
I remember reading Cap during this era. Honestly, this was during my favorite run. Shortly after this was Nomad and the Ameridroid.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1... I really enjoyed it! I haven't read any of the Ultimate titles in more than a few months. Great to step back into things and see new characters and that the story actually moved along.
JSA #8 & 9 ... I want to like this book. In ways, it reminds me of the Infinity Inc from the 80s. However, the past couple issues feel like an extended prologue to the first arc. Can we pick up the pace and move onto a new storyline?
