So I forgot that I wanted to add that Captain America #3 that Jeff recently talked about, or I would have started that this morning instead of trying to read back to back Amalgam ;) issues. I couldn't get through two full issues. After just a few pages into the second one, I knew I needed to take a break. And that's not an indictment on the issues (either one), they're not bad... just... well anyway, I needed a break (and I had forgot about checking Hoopla) so I read Scion #12 which I wasn't going to read this week but... :(
Oh well, Cap is up there now, so hopefully I will remember it this time.

Puppet Master (Jeff) Avengers Annual #10
*******************************************
Avengers Annual - I remember this being my last (or just about my last) Avengers issue for a few months, as the art work on the regular title at this time didn't hit for me. I do need to go back and see if Gene Colon art on Avengers hits the same for me now as it did when I was a kid, as I am sure I can appreciate it more now, even if I think the art isn't the best match for the title, but yeah this was a hell of a way to go out. Like most people, I am a huge fan of Golden's art so that was the best part here, but I can also appreciate the way Marvel TRIED to fix the total screw up that was Avengers #200. This was good. All around!
Scion - Yeah, I wasn't going to read this, but... here we are. This was fine. I think writer Ron Marz does well enough, as usual. He is rarely going to "wow" me, if ever, but he is solid for the most part, if not a little slow to the point. Cheung on art though? Even with the horrible images I have... very good stuff. And with the last page, I think, will really get this thing rolling now.
Legion - First off, love Greg LaRocque! And I also love when I can see artist's inspiration in their work as well, and there are panels in here that look incredibly close to Mike Grell layouts with some of the character form work looking like Steranko and Mike Zeck. That was cool as hell (Just look at Elemant Lad in a couple panels and tell me you don't see Mike Zeck :)). Story was okay, but only because I am not a fan of ... the antagonist... if it wasn't for that, this was a very good issue of Legion. One thing I didn't know (or didn't remember)
Spoiler
was Wildfire having all those different suits that change the way his powers work? Didn't remember that being a thing, so that is kind of cool. You know I love my heroes to have limitations! ;D
Legion Annual - Not as fun as the ongoing issue, but decent nonetheless. I don't mind Giffen's art style here, until later when I see those damn duck lips that seem to be on almost every page of his Legion "Five Years Later" work ::) but I will say that, much like Chris Bachelo (and Humerto Ramos in some instances), sometimes his panels are very confusing. Hard to differentiate things. Not sure what I am seeing or supposed to be seeing. But overall yeah, this was a fun read.
DC Batman/Deadpool - Honestly... meh. First and foremost the art in all the stories was tight! Great stuff, though I had no interest whatsoever in the last story
Spoiler
(Ms. Marvel and Static)
so I didn't read that one all the way through, merely flipped through the last three or four pages, most of them were fine. At the start, the first (main) story, I didn't like Grant Morrison's voice for Deadpool. It's not "wrong", but just... I mean, he had all the right words, but... yeah, something was off. I don't know. That being what it is, I did laugh my ass off at
Spoiler
the Phantom Stenographer line though.
That was great. I think my favorite was
Spoiler
the Constantine/Dr. Strange story
, but I am a a fan of both of those characters so... yay!! However, I am totally confused on one part at the end of the book... I didn't understand
Spoiler
Eternity saying "You dare not rate me! Not yet, we're not done"
Any help with that? What did I miss?
New Gods - Enjoyed most everything until this last issue. Just didn't hit for me. I did enjoy the first couple pages being drawn by Phil Hester. Haven't seen his stuff in awhile, that was nice. So yeah, it has SOME good stuff, but just didn't land for me. But
Spoiler
Orion going after Darkseid will be something I look forward to seeing soon
Imperial War: Nova - This I really enjoyed. Love limitations, as always, so the Worldmind "situation" was cool for me
Ult Spider Incursion - I have only been reading this to see how much of a plot device Mile's sister will end up being and we are going to get our answer next issue. Maybe? I hope.
ULt Wolverine - Okay, okay. This was the best looking issue* yet. The Sentinels looked amazing. Story wasn't bad either. Yeah, a good issue
* = Best looking issue drawn by Cappuccio anyway :P
;D ;)
