Auto graphed by both? THAT'S COOL !!!

Jimmy T

Here's a quickie, as I was looking at my blu ray library....

....ALL comic movies. If it was released on a 4color floppy before the silver screen appearance, let it make your list here!

Gay Titan

Overrated - ANY and ALL of the Deadpool movies! Ugh!
Underrated - Hellboy (2004 & 2008). The first and second movies with Ron Perlman were campy but fun.
Least favorite - Green Lantern. I could barely stomach Ryan Reynolds as GL, but Parallax was a cloud of fear?!?!
Favorite - Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. One of the more accurate comic movies.

Jimmy T

For my own....

Let's see!

Overrated - Spider-Man No Way home? I have a hard time divesting myself from the wonderful fan service this movie gives. Is it an actually good film? That's where I'm not sure. Honest!

Underrated - Shazam! This movie just gets me right in the right places

Least Favorite - Thor Love & Thunder -the disappointment of this makes 1 & 2 truly look like Hamlet

Favorite -Superman, Christopher Reeve. I get such magic warm fuzzies when he looks at us in the camera at the end of the film.

Some great choices for Least favorite :) and while I would easily put either of those two on my list in that same spot, I also would love to throw Madame Web and Morbius in my hat to pull from, but as I haven't been able to get more than 10 minutes into either of those, I am going to have to pick one I did see a majority of.
Also, while I am certainly on the "Rated" side of those overrated choices above :) , it is cool to see the differences.

Man, there are a lot of bad comic movies out there. Haha. I am leaving the bad 70's and 80's movies off my list "Least" list, but yeah, there are many bad ones during that period

- Overrated - Black Panther - And no, I am not saying it is a bad movie, but the sfx were. Actually, no, those "special" effects were atrocious (mag train scenes anyone?) and yes, while I totally understand the impact and affect the movie had to and for a lot of people, and while I think the over all appeal (which was massive) was warranted, it wasn't a movie that hit for me as strongly as the attention it received. Not a bad movie, just, yeah, overrated

- Underrated - Constantine - Yes, I was in the pack of "fans" that scoffed at the hiring of Neo as John (and they didn't even have the decency to dye his hair blonde?  ;D ), but much like the outcry that occurred when Heath Ledger was hired as the Joker, and everyone lost their shit about how stupid a decision THAT was, Keanu should have silenced all the voices of scorn as he did a bang up job... making John Constantine American... and while he isn't on the same level of Ledger, he still did a very good job on a highly underrated movie

- Least Favorite - Suicide Squad (2019) - Of course this particular movie is not the James Gunn movie by the same name that came out a few years later and as I said, there are lots to choose from and on a different day I may have chosen a different movie, but I was recently flipping through stations and saw Training Day was on. I watched for about 10 minutes and moved on, but it got me thinking about other David Ayers' movies (Fury, End of Watch) and remembering how I was excited when I heard he was chosen for this movie. HA. Wow, what a disappointment. Utter shit.

- Favorite - Dredd - Amazing comic book accurate movie. Not that trash Judge Dredd with Stallone, ugh, but the TRUE Dredd!!! One of the very few movies I have seen more than 5 times

And while I chose to keep animation off this list, I certainly tip my hat to not only the two Miles Spider-Man animated flicks, I also almost put in Incredibles as my favorite F.F movie
;D

Jimmy T

I almost said Black Panther for the same reasons, Perry.

Here's a hard one.

Comic Book Art Styles

At least hard for me.  I'll have to think on it.

Oh, we aren't. I just didn't know if you missed this again, as you didn't respond to Jimmy's last
Don't feel pressured
Just didn't know if it was a miss again.

Hmmm, okay, I'm not sure what you mean by style. I mean, I guess, more precisely, I know what I think you mean, but I am not sure how to answer it
;D

Oh! I thought I had but obviously I didn't.  Ok here goes without explanation.

OVERRATED: Captain Marvel
UNDERRATED: X-Men First Class
LEAST FAVORITE (worst?): Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
FAVORITE: Captain America: Winter Soldier

Interpretation is up to you. However you want to go with it.

Here are my thoughts.

OVERRATED: Manga

UNDERRATED: Surreal Expressionist & Art Deco Revival - examples Bill Sienkiewicz , Javier Rodriguez, Darwin Cooke.

LEAST FAVORITE: Toon/Cartoon - Flat colors, rubber-hose exaggeration, simplistic outlines.

FAVORITE: Classic Detailed Realism - examples George Perez, Neal Adams, Alex Ross, Jim Lee, Frank Quitely

Right on, I'll give it a go... but please note that I am probably using all the "art style" terms wrong, but only using them as a title placeholder.
;D

Overrated: 90% of artist working for the big two today (80% of which are employed by Marvel) - I have no word for this. No art style comes to mind, but damn it, I am sick and tired of looking at issues that seem as though a 6th grader drew them. A talented 6th grader sure, but still. No scene defining structures in the background, hell, usually no background at all. Sloppy line work, no attention to detail (I still remember when current Ult Wolverine artist Cappuccio forgot to draw a damn nose on Tigra, back when he was on Moon Knight. How the hell do you... anyway. Yeah. I know it is a cheat, especially when you see the same thing again below, but I can't think of a more overrated "style" right now

Underrated: Gothic - Dark tones, sweeping blacks, grey overtones... all bright colors either eliminated or toned way down. Gene Colon, Bernie Wrightson, Mike Mignola, Kelly Jones, etc...

Least Favorite: 90% of artist working for the big two - Yep, sorry, I think this fits the bill for both. Same thing as above.  :P

Favorite: Contemporary/European - Energy!! Movement... excitement. Intricate definition! Again, this may be an incorrect nomenclature, but it is the word that first comes to mind when I think of the great John Buscema. His brother Sal, even more so, although less of what I think of as Baroque. John's stuff though... he can make a still figure seem explosive. Right or wrong, when I picture either King Conan, Mephisto or Loki sitting on a throne, slouched down, with a grimace, I see so much motion in that stillness. In that way only Big Daddy John can bring. And the detail... wow. Other examples of great detail and/or energy: Geof Darrow, Mobius, George Perez

Jimmy T

Over rated - Negative space determines form.
-this would be Mike Deodato Jr, Mike Perkins devolved art -there ARE for sure some artists where this works great! But many can just overuse it, hide poor art or panels, and just look like an ink factory. Love Eduardo Risso! Love Sean Philips!

Under rated - Minimalist Comic Classical
-Alex Toth, Mazzuchelli, Samnee, Marcos Martin at times,

Least favorite -Exaggerated pseudo manga inspired
-Humberto Ramos, Skottie Young (on Big Two book), Rossmo

Favorite
-Classical Representation - George Perez; c'mon, need I say more? ;)

Perry

Okay, dropping more...

OULF Justice League

Overrated - JLA - I know I am going to get grief for this, and I'm not saying it is bad... it most certainly isn't... I enjoyed it, but I think, of all things JLA centered, Grant Morrison's JLA is my pick for the one that gets the most talk, but deserves maybe just a little less of it? Yeah, okay, slam away

Underrated - The Nail - Oh how one little nail in a tire can change things

Least Favorite - NU52 - I understand how a lot of people will go with Identity Crisis as their initial pick and I get that, but for me, I knew I was in trouble when I saw that Cyborg, a Titan... A TITAN!!!... was being 'retrofitted' to be a founding member of this team. NO! As much of a fan of John's and, to a lesser but still respectful amount, Jim Lee's work, this 'corporate mandate' team never hit for me. Add in the convoluted time frame with Bat's and it all was a huge cluster

Favorite - Justice League of America #200 - While I can appreciate Kingdom Come, there was little doubt that this single issue was going to be my pick. In the late 70's early 80's I was not too much into DC. I was a Marvel head mostly, though I never avoided DC it just wasn't a thing a ran towards for the most part. Sure I was reading Batman, Teen Titans, Legion, the occasional Sgt. Rock or Creature Commandoes and even an issue or seven of Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew ;D but I wasn't buying much DC otherwise. Other than, of course, I was aware of whatever George Perez was working on and at this time it was the JLA. I had read an issue or two leading up to this issue, but this issue... man oh man... I must have read this thing 50 times. Loved it. Still do. Hope it holds up as it may just be a Puppet Master pick
;D
