Legion - Sill enjoying this title more than the other Legion title, but
Spoiler
so tired of Levitz hang-up with leadership. It seems we can't go two issues without some character getting mad about who is leader and what role they have. Also, didn't we just move an entire planet not too long ago? ::)
[close]

Ultimates #12 - Ummm, okay, we get some clarification here but little else. Meh

Amazing - Okay, this was better than last issue, but I think Pepe has now left the title all together? I knew JRjr was coming on to the title after this issue (or after the next, I can't remember), but I thought Pepe would be back after that arc. Seems not. Hmmm... still not sure I should stick around
Spoiler
(and I can't stand itsy-bitsy)

Thing - The opening few pages here are a little clumsy, writing wise, forcing that exposition early kinked the smooth intro to the title, but the bumps softened as we went. I guess this is set in the 80's? Just going by a few things, like bringing back up a Byrne creation, but the real kicker was the look of one character on the last page. Doesn't that confirm the time frame, I think?

Amazing Spider-Man #4 - this just isn't for me.  I'm out. Mainly because I just don't care about this new supporting cast.

The Thing #1 - an ok first issue.  I'll give it a second issue to get me invested.

WEAPON X-MEN #4 - Another ok issue. At least it was a rare one and done story.  Let's see what the next issue brings us.

THE ULTIMATES #12 - Decent issue.  Leaving us with a surprise twist that bodes for disaster.

MARVEL

Amazing Spider-man 4 - yeah, Hobgoblin! I'll take him anyway I can!!

Ultimates 12 -well, it's an issue. On the whole, if you forced me to drop all Ultimate titles tomorrow, I wouldn't feel all that bad about it...

What have you heard? I still he's listed on art at issue 13, and by 15 still, in the quick solicits I looked at.

Incredible Hulk 467 - interesting Peter David story.  Bit of a slow burn but very character driven. I dug it.

Legion of Super-Heroes #3 - The best part of this book is the amazing art. The Legion of Super-Villains is pretty fun but hard to keep track of all of its members!

NEW HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE #2 (OF 4) - not sure I like some of the retconning Waid is doing here. But I did like the mimicking of Perez's art when we reached the crisis on Infinite Earths section.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: DARK TOMORROW SPECIAL #1 - I love me a good time travel story. And this one was better than I expected.  Can't believe I'm gonna be picking up more Justice League Unlimited to see where this goes but I am.

TITANS 2025 ANNUAL #1 - Wow.  This is the comic of the month, hands down. Give yourself plenty of time to read it in one sitting. It's a lot of narrative but worth every word and not one you should break from and come back to.  I feel like I now know Donna Troy, not as a super heroine, but as a real life person.  Glad Rodney recommended this as he was spot on about what an amazing book it is.

I heard he was off the book. That is all I heard, but hey maybe the information was wrong. Or Marvel changed their mind. The podcast I heard that from, 11 o'clock comics, most likely, usually have great intel, but yeah, things could have changed. Hope so.

But then again I hope not.

Would love to see him do some artistic hit and runs on other titles

So I added and read that Teen Titans Annual (transitive action through Jeff via Rodney's recommendation ;D) and it was pretty good.
well, no, I shouldn't say that. I mean to say it was a really well done, enjoyable comic with great character insight/reflection and great art

Hulk - Hulk can be a hard character to work with, but Peter David is a master when it comes to this character. This was a worthy read, though sad that it was his last. I personally, having read very few Hulk issues after "brother Sal's" departure... OTHER than David's, do remember most of PAD's Hulk stuff. May have to break back into the Pantheon and take a trip to see Joe Fixit again soon as this made me miss that stuff a lot. Not that this was bad, it wasn't, but man... those fond memories from another time make me miss them even more. Ya know?

JL Dark Tomorrow - I want to stop typing after I write "Dark" as I miss that Justice League Dark comic  ;D This was fine. Not really what I wanted, but that's not the fault of the creators. It was well done, but as much as I love seeing Hex, Airwave, Moonlight, Plas, etc... I just don't enjoy the "League" with this many characters. And yes, I know I am on the short list there. But I have to be honest and say I would be the Henry Gyrish of the DCU and fire most all of them
 ;D

Titans - Again, a hearty thanks goes to the Rodney/Jeff duo as I really enjoyed this look into Donna. Still rattling my brain trying to see who all those people at Aurora Studios were (Wolfman and Perez aside of course  ;)) but yeah, good stuff  8)

Sacrificers - I haven't enjoyed a Remender book this much since his X-Force/Avengers stuff. Although....  ;)

Escape - Another Remender book that I am all over!!! Anthropomorphic dogs fighting WWII'esque baddies? YES PLEASE!!!!  :)

Gay Titan

Small haul this week, but I am still trying to finish a few comics from last week.

RODNEY!!!!

GREAT RECOMMENDATION on the Titans Annual! I'm sure we would have all passed over it, but man,...WHAT AN ISSUE.

Wonder Woman is the perfect..woman, but Donna? I fell in love with her all over again in this issue, as just being a wonderful ...person.
I'm gonna go buy a hard copy...er floppy copy of this issue. So damned good!

Jimmy T

Hulk 467 - what I can still remember to this day is the moment Bruce becomes Hulk, without any change to him. No heartbeat increase, no sweat drops, no twitch of the face. In their utter depths of sadness, Bruce and Hulk were one.

He was only there as long as he wanted to remain in custody.

That, and Peter David...now gone from us....it wasn't so much Rick talking as it was PAD just writing....his anger, his frustration, his sadness at just...all of it feeling permanent, but not, just going away...but make sure you love. Love someone, love someone strongly.

RIP Mr. David.  :'(

AND

DC COMICS

Titans Annual - so GREAT

Justice League Dark Tomorrow, so I did recognize the evil lady in the tower, and I'm glad I was right, but the dialogue after that dissuaded me from thinking that Legend was
Spoiler
Wildfire, since the costume looks similar. However, now I'm looking at the costume, and it reminds me of the Ray costume from Legends of Tomorrow. Eh eh eh? Get it get it? ;)

Legion 3 - Loving the build up. Love that there is still things out there, even in the future, where super beings go 'yeah, I'll follow you big evil dude' looking forward to finishing #4 soon!!!

Flash 23 - so Si Spurrier quirky, so weird, so fun!

And I read ahead to Legion 4 - HOLY CRAP WHAT A GREAT ISSUE!!, LIke...not even that much dumb 80s comic speech patterns here, just an awesome crafted issues of big stakes! I'm holding back reading #5!!!!

Battle Beast - I recently talked about some Eisner winners and speculation about possible future recipients, and while this title will never be one to reach that pinnacle, unless something very bad happens, hahaha, if all you want are comics to be action oriented and above all fun, than this is a title for you.
Never going to blow me away, but damn does it make me smile :) (<- see?)

Hyde Street - A little bit scattershot writing towards the end of the issue, not sure the narrative is 100% sound here as it seemed a tad jumbled, but while there are things that are "clunky" towards the end, I do like what happened, where this is going, and was happy to see and read about some new characters (and see some old ones return). Also glad get a little insight into the coming Hyde Street mini Sisterhood  8)

Hellblazer - So last issue Papa Midnite dosed John with some powerful Hoodoo magic stuff so now John, basically in a comatose, vegetable state, dreams of walking through a mental hellscape with dead U.S President JFK (who is holding the back of his head so his brains won't fall out from the whole Dallas situation). After walking across this "America" in only a few hours, they reach the White House where they find Papa Midnite's sister, Cedella. Papa murdered her by slashing her throat, sending her to hell to work as a spy for him. She wants out, to finally be released and die in peace, and so she tells John that she is willing to help him (and JFK?) escape in return for sending her on to meet her maker. Ya know, typical Constantine joyful stuff in this issue.  ;D
