Jeff, does the Trinity mini-series actually occur in the DC timeline? Do you foresee any lasting takeaways?
Quote from: Gay Titan on Dec 29, 2025, 03:24 PMJeff, does the Trinity mini-series actually occur in the DC timeline? Do you foresee any lasting takeaways?
I'm reading it too, and I think....I wonder if Trinity will be doing some time traveling back to meet someone in her other time travels. I think with her build up, they can't just decide to not include her in the regular issues of things.
Let's get me caught up on the books I've read since surgery, and what I hope to get a chance to read yet on my 'vacation' week.
MARVEL
Amazing Spider-Man 11 & 12 - I love the extended Super and Bat families. Arrow family too! I hate having Spidey be a member of everyone like him. It's weird to me. That said, really curious how this separation of people and places is going to be play out, but Joe Kelly writing? That's a name I can trust in this.
Need to read: Ultimates, New Avengers, Captain America, Nova Centurion, Death of Silver Surfur, Ultimate Spider-Man & Mortal Thor & Wolverines & Deadpools
DC ULTRA
Abso Batman - just INSANITY. Certainly not our universe Batman lol
Abso Wonder Woman - Still really good
Abso Flash - digging things coming to some kind of a head!
Batman Dark Patterns - Satisfactory ending
GL Corps 10 - Continue on with GL goodness
Justice League Red 4 - just...okay...hoping for one payout
Wonder Woman 27 - This Mouse Man Island is just a super weird commentary on fascism, but Diana as an unblinking figure of pure resolve, it's great to see her crush it!
Action 1092 - still enjoyable look at the 'new' history of Superboy
Trinity: Daughter... 5 - still a sweet, sad, cute, fun endearing read. I hope these events play out in the current time line somehow
Batman 162 Hushs2 - I'm so glad they just ended/ skipped this volume numbering, it can delay forever for all I care
Detective 1103 - whoa I just love Taylor's run on Detective. Such great reading for how I love to see Batman done
Superman Unlimited 7 - Dan Slott's Superman work feels like a colossal nothingburger for DC comics. The sooner this just ends and gets forever ignored, the better for Slott's career! But I'm glad it was about Jon Kent!! (*and it was a good story for Jon, actually!!!) So why rip on it? Kryptonite meteor is why.
And now...KO
Aquaman 11
Zatanna vs Harley Quinn
Red Hood vs Joker
Flash 27 & 28
Superman 32 & 33
Justice League Unlimited 13
The Superman titled issues were pretty decent, story wise. JLU was disappointing. Flash has been the best read so far.
Jason v Joker just feels like it's already been written before...twice?
To read: Legion x3 books to catch up, World's Finest, Green Lantern, Batman Arcadia, New Gods 12 (eh, just final pages :D ), Mr. Terrific Year One, Batman & Robin,
OH! and the Flashback books of Avengers Annual and Uncanny X-men!
I think all my hoopla rentals expired, but I got my 14 to rent for this month, so that's okay.
Quote from: Jimmy T on Dec 29, 2025, 05:59 PMLet's get me caught up on the books I've read since surgery, and what I hope to get a chance to read yet on my 'vacation' week.
MARVEL
Need to read: Ultimates, New Avengers, Captain America, Nova Centurion, Death of Silver Surfur, Ultimate Spider-Man & Mortal Thor & Wolverines & Deadpools
Wolverines & Deadpools - cleans up the quick little, but fun Cody Ziglar run on Wilson. A little status quo reset. I liked it.
Captain America 3 - I got all excited by the end of the issue! And I feel REALLY terrible for Colton! Heck of a learning curve for Rogers after coming unfrozen!
Ultimates - Ooof. This issue hit me hard. Got real serious for Wren, and my heart just dropped reading this one. Didn't feel like a stalled out issue to me.
Nova Centurion - I loved it! I SO LOVED THE ORIGINAL NOVA WORLDMIND team up, all the events of that title coming out of Annihilation, the Cancerverse, losing the worldmind, all coming to this moment here!!! (I loved all that stuff so much is why I hated Sam Humphries 'Kid Nova' so much because of the gravitas, importance, and difficulty of being a Nova Corpsman, that making it a kid just having fun with the helmet grates on me. See the Kid Lantern in DC For the same things that bug me!!)
New Avengers 4 -was my 1st attempt to try something new out of the Big Two, okay, Marvel, instead of poo-pahing everything they do. I've been enjoying it! It's got stilly humor that isn't distracting from the book, big event combats and things like that, interesting premise, and the artist, Tiego Palma, reminds me of a very loose Sal Buscema and someone else I can't think of, but enjoy reading. Glad I've kept up with it!
Ultimate Spider-Man 21 - no matter the universe
Spoiler
Gwen just has to die! :D
Mortal Thor 2 - its only 2 issues, and I'm loving this! Pascual Ferry draws with such looseness, but his implied form just grows so well from the carefree pencils. OH, and when THAT Thor pose is found?! EXCELLENCE!!! I hope the mortal Thor story doesn't end too soon!!
Death of Silver Surfer 4 - Art seemed to fail the story here. Hoping for a big YEAH on the ending.
Added...
X-men 22 - what a weird lead up to Age of Revelation!

I agree with Jimmy. She's too much fun not to have around more.

To read: Legion x3 books to catch up, World's Finest, Green Lantern, Batman Arcadia, New Gods 12 (eh, just final pages :D ), Mr. Terrific Year One, Batman & Robin,
Green Lantern 29 - yeah, what a fun book! Like, what a really cool issue to enjoy! Had blast with this one, with di Giancarmelo on art! ( I spelled that wrong)
New Gods 12 - whatever mess the last 5 issues were, and how I really didn't like them at all, all went away with this issue, wherein it hit me right, and I loved to read this issue. Got me just right. Loved reading it!
Mr. Terrific Year One 6 - a worthy mini! Glad to see his son wasn't just forgotten after the last Flash volume ended. Art by Valentin De Landro that really grew on me!
Batman & Robin 27 - PKJ just writes a great 'human' Bruce Wayne with this son Damian-a very young man trying to find his way through the life he was created for-but not the one he deserves. Ossio has a drawing talent like Guillem March, with big bodies/movements like Neal Adams. I like!
Batman Arcadia 1 - what a cool black label project to work into the Hunter era of Green Arrow. I can dig this!
...and I added
Cheetah & Cheshire rob the Justice League 1 - Greg Rucka, doing what he wants to do, in the DCU, without Didio, is an inspired writing man. Loved issue 1, loved the simple humanity of 2 women talking, and Nicola Scott has the time taken to get all the best work done-great looking, great feeling book. Glad I decided to step into this. I'm in!

Absolute Batman #14 – Well... that was pretty gross. This title is absolutely wild, and honestly the best Bat‑book on the stands right now.
Absolute Wonder Woman #14 – This two‑parter didn't grab me as much, but the next issue looks exciting with Wonder Woman finally meeting the Batman.
Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman #5 (of 6) – Another fun issue, with a touch of sadness woven in.
Told my LCS guy that I am dropping Absolute Superman and adding Abs WW. The previews for Absolute Zantanna look amazing and I am curious.

Detective or Batman & Robin over Abso, from my perspective. ;)

DC K.O.: The Red Hood vs. Joker – Solid issue. It really could've gone either way, but I'm definitely happy with how it turned out.
Superman #32 (DC K.O.) – Interesting story with Superwoman and Prime, and I loved seeing Dark Sunboy, Timber Wolf, and especially Ferro Lad show up.
Superman #33 – Lex Luthor vs. The Demon – Another matchup in the books. I really shouldn't be enjoying this event as much as I am, because the K.O. premise is ridiculous... but it's just too much fun.
The Flash #26–28 – A really fun tie‑in to the K.O. event. Dark Legionnaires taking on Impulse and Wally, plus Jay Garrick vs. Guy Gardner. I'm excited to see where this goes next.

Legion of Super-Heroes #16 – An okay issue. We're clearly in the Crisis on Infinite Earths era now, and seeing Brainiac 5 react to Supergirl's death was interesting—even if I'm not convinced he'd be that openly emotional in front of other people. The new recruits' adventure had some intrigue, mostly for what it's setting up rather than what actually happened.
Batman #4 – Really enjoyed this one. The setup for the gang cartel has me more invested than I expected, and I'm definitely more interested in where this arc is heading.
DC K.O.: Knightfight #2 (of 4) – Things are getting weird, but in a fun way. I liked this chapter and the direction the matchups are taking, even if I still have no idea what the bigger purpose of this event is supposed to be.
I am hoping that after KO, Darkseid, and the Absolute Universe that we finally get a new Legion series.
Quote from: Gay Titan on Dec 31, 2025, 09:32 PMI am hoping that after KO, Darkseid, and the Absolute Universe that we finally get a new Legion series.
Here's the clear, up‑to‑date picture based on the latest reporting:
Yes — a new Legion of Super‑Heroes series is coming from DC.
Two separate developments point to this:
---
1. DC teased the Legion's return at WonderCon 2025
DC's Editor‑in‑Chief hinted that a proper Legion of Super‑Heroes team — not the Darkseid/Absolute Omega version — will be returning "soon." Mark Waid even suggested DC has chosen a version of the team he's "confident everyone will embrace."
This strongly implies a new Legion project spinning out of Waid's History of the DC Universe.
---
2. A new Legion comic was officially announced at NYCC 2025
DC revealed that Joshua Williamson will write a brand‑new Legion of Super‑Heroes comic.
• Announced at New York Comic Con
• Slide read: "The Legion of Super‑Heroes Are Coming Soon!"
• No artist, roster, or continuity version has been revealed yet
• Williamson said he called Mark Waid for "permission" to write the Legion
This is the most concrete confirmation of a new ongoing or mini.
---
🧭 What we don't know yet
DC hasn't announced:
• The exact roster
• Whether it's ongoing or a limited series
• Which Legion continuity (Pre‑Crisis, Reboot, Threeboot, Retroboot, or a new one)
• Release date
But between the WonderCon tease and the NYCC announcement, the Legion's return is locked in.

Death of the Silver Surfer #4 – Another strong issue. This whole series has been solid so far, and it definitely feels like we're heading toward a big finale next issue.
Ultimate Hawkeye #1 – The Ronin reveal was predictable, and the story didn't land for me. To be fair, I've never really connected with this take on Hawkeye. If this isn't a one‑shot, I doubt I'll stick around for issue #2.
Ultimate Spider-Man #21 – Fantastic issue. Easily the best book in the Ultimate line right now. That cliffhanger was great, and I'm excited to see where things go next.
X-Men #22 – Hmmm. I like this lineup—it's an interesting team—but I'm unsure how I feel about the "Age of Revelation" arc based on this kickoff. Really hoping this crossover doesn't push me away from the last X‑title I'm still reading.

Black Hammer Vol. 9: Spiral City (Collects #1–7) – Classic Lemire pacing: a slow burn at first, but it really finds its groove by issue #3. From there it just keeps building, culminating in a great finale. I loved seeing formerly minor background characters step into the spotlight and become fully realized protagonists.
Man, been a busy couple weeks. I just realized I still haven't discussed (at least not here), my comics from last week. Much less the ones for this one.

Uncanny - Really fun revisiting this issue. Like Jeff, I remembered this being the Brood, ha, but it not being them makes more sense as we are not in space quite. And damn this was peak Byrne. Good stuff
Knightfight - Fun issue, love Dan Mora... what is not to like?
Batman - Still not "Feeling the Fraction", but that doesn't mean this is a bad title. Enjoying this, even though I am patiently waiting for the punch
Legion - Yeah, not a bad issue, not a great one (much like Mephisto in Superman, I didn't like nor appreciate the Brainiac tears) but I think the art... in comparison to last issue... hurt my enjoyment more than anything and I liked the art Lightle had done prior. I am sure had LaRocque not been the artist last issue, I would have liked the work done here, but in comparison to last issues art... yeah.
Arcadia - Great start by Hardman. Love this!! So much the feel of the late 80's and I am here for it
Absolute Wonder Woman - Okay, yes, I am a huge fan of a certain DC female magician, but while I like the way she speaks backwards for spells, here, having her speak ONLY that way, made for a rough read. I think it is a fantastic idea for this version, I do love it, but that love doesn't make it easier on my eyes or brain to get through. Haha
Absolute Batman - Not sure why I like this. I mean, I know why, but as a Batman title... it doesn't work... but it does. HOW?!?!
Ultimate Hawkeye - Jeff and I are on opposite sides of the coin with this issue. First off I love the look of this Hawkeye. It isn't THAT much of a different take costume wise, but the addition of the long black hair, having this version be... Native America (sorry, my old ass always wants to say Indian) I love it. Love the look. Also enjoyed the story... save for the one text line I didn't feel was needed. And I could be wrong here, but I think comparing the Sun and Moon and then saying the male and female aspect of that... was them telling us that this character is probably bi... or whatever other sexual acronym they determine. And I am fine with him being whatever he is, but not sure I like the passive/not so passive insert into his sexuality. IF that is what that was. I could be totally wrong and reading into something that isn't there. Regardless, I am here for this and hope it isn't just a one-shot
Death of Surfer - Good issue but happy, the way this seems to be going, that my favorite Surfer story ever (Requiem) will still be the story I can point to as the death of the character. I think
Black Panther - I don't remember. Ha. There ya go.
Ultimates - Man, the Hand is brutal. Interesting to see if this character "turns" out to be someone I know, but as for now, no idea who she is. That's cool
Absolute Wonder Woman #14...back issue and debut of Zatanna
Green Arrow #31... final issue, BOOOO!!!

Wait a minute. Your saying that villain is Absolute Zatanna? How did I miss that?
Quote from: Gay Titan on Jan 01, 2026, 07:47 PMAbsolute Wonder Woman #14...back issue and debut of Zatanna
Clearly I forgot this or didn't catch it. I feel dumb.
I had to look up spoilers to understand. Her identity is supposed to be unknown in issue 14. She is not revealed as Zatanna until issue 16. Or at least it is assumed so based on the issue 16 preview.
The synopsis for Absolute Wonder Woman #16 reads: "The Season of the Witch arc begins here! After her exploits in the Area 41 maze, Diana has resolved not to let her personal mission overwhelm the one she was sent to the surface world to fulfill. But a new threat has emerged in Gateway City, and it turns out the best thing to send to kill Wonder Woman is... another witch! Zatanna is here, and Diana's life will never be the same!"
I don't feel so dumb now.

Absolute Wonder Woman #14 & 15 ..I haven't read this series since issue #1 (I was not impressed with the intro, the art, the characters). This crossover with Absolute Batman is amazing! LOVE the dialogue between these two main characters. She is blunt and insightful.
Green Arrow #31... A good story to wrap up the series. Still not the best art but sad to see this end. I don't read Detective Comics on a regular basis and will miss GA.
Justice League Unlimited #14... this felt like a filler issue and killing off another "time lost" character had zero impact.
Thundercats #22 was another good issue with history and characterization but I enjoyed Thundercats Lost #10 alot more. I was not expecting that plot twist in the end.
