New Life: The DC Universe: The Silver Age (1956-1985: Earth-1)

After years of trying to keep the comic industry alive, editors at DC Comics were getting desperate. In an attempt to recapture the profits of the Golden Age, DC decided to revive and update some of their classic Mystery Men. This time around they renamed them super-heroes and gave them more scientific based origins and costume updates. The first of which is debated by comic fans and historians, but it can be agreed on that it was either The Martian Manhunter or Flash II (Barry Allen). Soon after the success of these 2 characters, DC continued the trend and brought out other Silver Age characters such as Green Lantern II (Hal Jordan), Hawkman II (Katar Hol), The Doom Patrol, The Teen Titans, and updated their main heroes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Green Arrow. Soon these heroes formed a super-hero team of their own: The Justice League of America (JLA).

Discovery: The Original DC Multiverse(1963-1985)

It was through the adventures of the Justice League of America that the Multiverse was discovered. On one such adventure they made contact to a parallel Earth, known as Earth-2. It was then established that the Mystery Men and JSA of the Golden Age resided on this parallel Earth where their adventures continued, and not on the same Earth as the JLA resided.
