Year One - If I were to have paid money for this... well, I guess I did pay a little as I pay for an annual membership to MC Unlimited... but I mean if I had walked into a shop and threw my $6 down for this issue (wait, SIX DOLLARS? Holy shit) I would have been pissed. This was fine, a cool one-shot that recaps, in a round about way, everything that has gone on in the Ultimate Universe for the past year or so, but this was more of a Free Comic Book Day issue and not something that you needed to spend money on. Look, I love seeing THAT character and the last page made my day, but the only thing this issue really accomplished was me being more worried about the upcoming Ultimate Wolverine title after seeing those couple of preview pages in the back of this issue. I have even less desire to look at the art in that upcoming book than I had before. I will try it, I know, but man... I'm not happy about it. I am not a fan of Cappuccio
>:(

Ultimate Spidey - Well this "exciting" issue should make a lot of people happy.  ;D ;D ;D I know I am the outlier here, most likely, and I'm fine with that, but I liked this issue. That having been said, I totally get and understand the ire this issue will, once again, ignite. Not a lot going on other than character development again. There is slow burn and then there is slow burn and this is, yeah, slow burn. This is one of those rare "I'm glad I'm not reading this in trade" comics, because I doubt even I, a guy that can appreciate the slow-going of story telling, could stay awake for the entire collection
;D

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #12 - oh yeah - that was a great issue! And that ending was perfect.  Talk about ramping up the tension!

ULTIMATE UNIVERSE: ONE YEAR IN #1 - Nor a bad one shot. I liked it.  Didn't really tell us anything major but I liked how it went. A bit of a surprise.

DAZZLER #4 - Man that was awful.  Jason Loo is officially on my list of writers to avoid for now.

Marvel

Ultimate Spider-Man 12 -yeah, it was fine. But the ending was awesome!
okay, I should say more than fine. I love this Jonah Jameson, if I'm being honest. Him and Ben together are really cool. I really didn't care one whit about the Watson family dynamics. But that ending was great!

X-men 9 -junk art. Don't like it. Story at least gave us that their is a lot of mind influencing going on, but, as a 4 parter will do correctly, make me go, what's going on?! Happy for that feeling. Really curious about our unknown psychic, Xavier himself, and what's behind door #1 :D

Amazing Spider-Man 63 -not good. I skipped his fight with the cytorrak kid, read some of the turbulent stuff with his friends and May, and I just have to say, writer's miss out on what down on his luck, 'Parker luck' charm is. Peter remembers and knows what he should do, where he should be, and how he should be a better person. The life of Spider-man always interrupts that. Peter these days is just a fuck off, and a generally sorry and shitty person that always walks into a situation where he then remembers, or gets reminded what he should have done. He just feels bad in the moment, and to me, those are 2 different things.

TMNT vol 2 -interesting take on the origins coming along here! Art is very stylized for the guy doing pencils, and I really do enjoy a lot of it.

Perry, Jeff, lets get caught up on the Legion; don't forget to tell me how it's going!!

INFINITY WATCH #1 (OF 5) - The ending was quite good with a great cliffhanger. This will be a great read...for someone other than me. The juvenile banter between these new characters is too much for me. I might come back when it's all out and flip through it to see what happens but I can't read this month to month.

PHOENIX #6 - I like the team Jean is putting together to go up against the Galactic Council. Cosmic fun and adventure!
Spoiler
Nova! Captain Marvel! Rocket Raccoon! And Sif too, but I'm less excited about her. :-)

X-Men 9 - Much better part 3.  Looking forward to the big finale and the reveal for Inmate X.

DC

I read...

NIGHTWING YEAR ONE 20th Anniversary. I wanted to read this for a while.I thought it was back when Scott McDaniel was really good. He was okay, and it was nice to see the imagined transition of Dick from Robin to Nightwing
Joker The World : special anniversary issue. I only ended up reading Geoff Johns mini story where, in a small bit of actual continuity, Joker meets his son briefly
Legion 296 - definitely got to be the prime of Levitz & Giffen-or the building power of it. I really just enjoy these issues!

to Read

Nightwing 123
Wonder woman 18
New Gods 3
Batman & Robin Year One 5
World's Finest 36

Gay Titan

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #34-36.... still one of my favorites every month. Been awhile since we saw that particular villain. Just curious, Perry, about your comment (last issue?). Are you dropping it?

Gay Titan

#10
Finally got to my LCS and picked up:

Absolute Batman #6
Absolute Flash #1
Batman & Robin: Year One #6
Batman/Superman: World's Finest #37
Herculoids #2
Nightwing #124....Still need to read 121-123.
Thundercats Lost #1

New Gods #4 was already sold out. Boo! The owner of my local LCS said he expected bigger sales for Absolute Flash, but not even close to what he ordered.

Nightwing 123 - so just, very, very....by the numbers? It has no spark, no life, to me.
Wonder woman 18 - so much cool build and mystique to Diana and what she's done
New Gods 3 =- super cool! this may be a great reread after the first arc
Batman & Robin Year One 5 - Riding high on robin stuff lately. Enjoying this book
World's Finest 36 - Guiterrez is no Dan Mora, and certainly better than whatever artist was on 3 issues ago. This still has the cool team up action book I enjoyed at the very start

Conan Vol 4 - (Collects issues 13-16) - I liked this arc.  Doesn't hurt having a sexy naked girl wandering through the snow. But the story itself was intriguing and makes me want to learn more about her and her "people".
