I liked watching it! Wasn't too bad of a movie!

OH, I had I my issues, leave no doubt in your mind about that, but I was down for watching it!!

As time has worn on, although yes, a very short amount of time, I have grown a tad more okay with it, but it isn't great.

Spoiler
Starts off well enough (and the wife did shiver a couple times when the face huggers were rapidly advancing ;D), but it quickly degrades into some not so good stuff. I still say they needed a different "Ripley" character as I just couldn't buy into her doing half of the things she did, especially that acid/no gravity scene which was stupid as hell. I also think they screwed up by making a lot of the Romulus Xenomorphs too defined, too well lit. Far too clear. I do enjoy seeing the damn things, but part of the fascination of Alien was that we didn't get a guided view of how the creature looked. In this movie, they are shown so well, a lot of the times, that they look more fake than they do scary. I wanted a classic Alien horror movie like the first Alien, or a smart, action movie like Aliens, and I got something akin to most bad PG-13 horror movies.

It wasn't all bad of course. I did enjoy a good bit of what they did. Hell, the added feature of being shown the chrysalis was cool (and it's sexual representation ;) aligned perfectly with H.R.Giger's paintings) and the sheer amount of face-huggers was a great tension device. I also enjoyed most of the deaths. But the bad stuff, or the stuff I didn't enjoy, bugged me.

Although, as I started, those bad things have begun to lessen the further I am away from it. Maybe upon re-watch it will hit better for me and the things I find bothersome will be far less intrusive.
 ;D

Of course, all that said, it was certainly better than Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.
